As editors, we’re always asked for decorating advice, and above all dining chairs.There are many things to consider, from the proper height of the table to the weight of the chair to the seemingly endless number of aesthetic options: with or without armrests?Upholstered or more minimalist?Can you mix and match?(Yes!) How about a bench instead of a chair?(We’re divided on this one — leaning back a little after a few martinis can be helpful.) Cristina Casanas-Judd’s husband-and-wife team and I and General Judd of General Design also had strong and sensible opinions on dining choices. With chairs so cool and comfortable, your guests may never want to leave – we asked them for the spiciest new designs.
Cristina Casañas-Judd: There is an abundance, like an undiscovered treasure found on a sunken pirate ship.
General Judd: It’s the perfect combination of luxury and deconstruction that instantly gives you a sense of style as you spin.
GJ: It feels like fashion.This chair is saying, “I’m wearing the perfect clothes and I’m comfortable.”
GJ: It has a light feel to it because it has no hard edges, just an organic silhouette.For a simple chair, it works very well.
CCJ: I do like the gradient effect.There’s something pleasing about the gradient – it feels like a sunrise.
CCJ: It’s amazing.It has a very nice pattern and redefines the typical dining chair.
GJ: Pierre has reinvigorated a chair designed by a Swedish designer who died in 1959.It would be great on a large dining table.
